Shannon ‐ Communications Coordinator
Last year, WORTH introduced the start of a 12 week, full-stack, guided training program developed in-house by our technical coaches. It introduces junior software engineers/frontend developers to the technologies and methodologies that we use inside the company. These also happen to be some of the most successful techniques in the industry.
In February this year, trainees Amy, Polina and Hakan marked the start of their adventure as trainees at WORTH. Following 'Traineeship blog Part I: The Expectations' , we now learn about the experiences of our trainees during and after the traineeship. Keep on reading to find out about all the things the trainees learned, how they experienced the traineeship overall, and what they enjoy most about working at WORTH.
1. DO YOU THINK THAT THIS TRAINEESHIP HAS ADDED VALUE TO YOUR CAREER?
Polina: Yes. It’s a perfect starting point for a career in software development, compared to being just thrown into a project and trying to figure out the way all by yourself.
Amy: Definitely. It has boosted my confidence in my software development job, and it has also helped me to grow a lot towards a bright future. Many thanks!
Hakan: The traineeship has definitely added to value to my career. During the last three months I learned a lot about being a software developer. In addition to that, the traineeship has also helped me to overcome my social fears.

2. WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR YOU IN THIS TRAINEESHIP?
Polina: The biggest one would have to be waking up super early in the morning (since I live pretty far from the Hague, in Eindhoven).
Amy: I consider myself to be not a really good time manager. This traineeship has enabled me to learn how to be more productive & efficient in group projects. It was a challenge for me to try NOT drag on for too long.
Hakan: For me, the biggest challenge was to become a part of a team. Before starting the traineeship, I was used to always working on my own. Therefore, adapting to a team was quite challenging.
3. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST SKILL THAT YOU ACQUIRED FROM THE TRAINEESHIP?
Polina: Clean Code.
Hakan: Communication as well.
4. WHAT DO YOU MOST ENJOY ABOUT WORKING AT WORTH?
Polina: The people here and the fun things we do, like ordering food together on Fridays. I really enjoy the feeling of being treated as an individual.
Amy: The common usage of English at work and the diversity of WORTH.
Hakan: The multicultural work environment, since we have so many international colleagues.
5. FUN FACT ABOUT YOU:
Polina: I only learned to ride at the age of 27, and I can’t stop biking ever since.
Amy: I am keen on picking up new knowledge and skills.
Hakan: I love ducks. I can watch them all day.
