March 14, 2019
There are so many large tech conferences held throughout the year and all around the world, and MWC Barcelona is just one of many. This makes it hard to decide which one to go to this year. Web Summit in Lisbon, VivaTechnology in Paris, London Tech Week, The Next Web in Amsterdam, South by South West in Texas, RISE in Hong Kong, Slush in Helsinki, Collision in Toronto, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona… What conference should you choose?
From 25-28 February, I went to Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2019, or MWC Barcelona 2019, and I'll give you four reasons to visit MWC Barcelona 2020!
1. 150.000+ attendees at MWC Barcelona
At MWC Barcelona, you will never feel alone. With more than 150.000 attendees to the 2019 edition, anybody who is anybody in the mobile industry, will be there.
2. Be part of the future at MWC Barcelona
It is very common for companies to showcase their latest innovation at MWC Barcelona. At the edition I went to, MWC Barcelona 2019, both Samsung and Huawei showed off their foldable phones. It's always a surprise what the next conference has in store, but one thing is for sure: attendees of MWC Barcelona are amongst the first in the world to know about the latest innovations.
3. Networking at MWC Barcelona
Because there are so many attendees, chances are that your new client, potential business partner, or even a competitor that you didn't know about yet, might pop up on your radar. During this last week of February, there are dozens of dinners, meetups, side events and networking drinks organised by both companies and countries. This creates the ideal situation to mingle with your target group, collect business cards and add more connections on LinkedIn.
WORTH was part of the The Hague delegation at the Holland Pavilion. For us, MWC was therefore the perfect place to grow tighter bonds with other tech companies in The Hague. You never know if this might end up in new partnerships.

4. Greatest city in Europe: Barcelona
A big plus of the Mobile World Congress is that it takes place in my favourite city in Europe: Barcelona. This year the event took place from February 24-28, and the average temperature during this week was 17 degrees. It was super sunny. This meant lunches outside, a stroll on Barceloneta Beach the day before the event, and leaving my jacket at home.
Aside from the great weather, Barcelona is a safe city where most people speak English very well. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars, the food/drink culture is amazing (tapas, paella, sangría, do I need to say more?) and the people are friendly. And last but not least, the Fira Barcelona is easy to reach with public transport.
